Handbags are notorious for carrying germs and bacteria.
Studies have shown that:
- Handbags carry more bacteria than a toilet seat
- 1 in 5 bacteria found in handbags can result in illness
- Handbag handles carry the most bacteria
The majority of us would say that we clean our toilet seat more times than our actual handbag and it is, suffice to say, one of our many belongings which doesn't get cleaned as often as it should! Think about it - you take your bag everywhere. It may get left on the floor, on a restaurant table or chair, on the bench in the pub garden or on public transport. These are all 'high touch' areas, used and frequented by lots of people. Not only to mention handbag contents like phones, make up items, hair brushes, perfume, receipts, note books, pens, glasses, medicine, coins and keys - all of which harbour germs and can easily spread into our handbag's lining, pockets and purse!
